About ASNR

The Animal Social Network Repository (ASNR) was created in 2018 by Shweta Bansal and Pratha Sah with the goal of facilitating cross-species comparisons of animal social network structure. The repository contains a variety of datasets, from macaque grooming networks and ant trophallaxis networks to junglefowl sexual interaction networks. It is the product of systematically gathering data across sources like DataDryad, Harvard Dataverse, and Figshare, followed by a comprehensive standardization and annotation process. The ASNR has expanded to 1,196 networks spanning 92 species and continues to expand. It is an invaluable resource to researchers studying a diverse range of topics, including disease ecology, complex network science, social behavior, collective behavior, social evolution, and the social microbiome.
